BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Bowling Green (6-6) travels to Evansville, Indiana for a weekend series against the Purple Aces, beginning on Friday, March Mar. 17 at 6:00 PM. The Falcons are looking for their second consecutive road sweep after beginning the season by defeating Murray State three times in the opening weekend.
Evansville (10-9) is coming off a pair of wins over Louisville and Saint Louis. The Falcon hurlers will have to deal with Junior Kasey Wahl and his team-leading .333 batting average. Bowling Green trails in the all-time series 3-1, with the last meeting coming in the form of a Purple Aces sweep in 2002.
Sizzling Sluggers
The temperature was not the only thing heating up over spring break for Bowling Green as several Falcons excelled at the plate. Senior Jay Threet hit at a .412 pace and led the Brown and Orange with five RBI in the Sunshine State. Junior Josh Stewart displayed his versatility by starting all eight games, splitting time between catcher and the outfield while recording a homerun and successfully stealing five bases on five attempts.
Friday's expected starter is Junior lefty Alan Brech. The 2005 All-MAC selection has continued his stellar play this season with a 1.93 ERA in three starts thus far.
After a 16-game road stint to begin the season, the Falcons will welcome Oakland to Warren E. Steller field next week for the home opening on Wednesday, March 22nd at 2:00 PM.
