BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University women's soccer team will hold its 2006 summer camp from June 18-22. Girls from ages 10 to 18 can choose either the residential camp or the commuter camp, hosted by Mid-American Conference Coach of the Year Andy Richards and his staff.
The residential/team camp provides four days of exciting and challenging instruction on all aspects of the game. Campers should be prepared for intense training sessions in the fun learning environment. Sessions will focus on advanced technical and tactical aspects of soccer in small group and team situations. The evening sessions will be devoted to competitive games in a 'World Cup' style format.
Falcon camps also offer teams the opportunity to participate and be coached as a group. High school and club coaches are invited to have input on the themes covered during camp, and players have the opportunity to play against other similar age groups.
Coach Richards, a native of Warwick, England, holds the USSF "A" coaching license and is a member of the Region II Olympic Development Program training staff. He has led the Falcons to the championship game of the MAC Tournament four times in his six seasons, winning the last two tourney titles.
The 2005 season also saw the Falcons win the MAC regular-season title, before BGSU earned a repeat MAC Tournament crown and participated in the NCAA Championships for a second consecutive year.
