BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (BGSUFalcons.com) - The Bowling Green State University women's soccer team, having clinched a berth in the Mid-American Conference Tournament, has a chance to earn a top-four seed and a first-round home game in that tourney ... but, the task will not be easy ... the Falcons of head coach Andy Richards (8-9-1, 5-5-0 MAC) will close the regular-season with a Thursday (Nov. 1) game vs. the arch-rival University of Toledo ... kickoff is set for 3:00 p.m. at UT's Scott Park Field ... then, on Sunday (Nov. 4), the Brown and Orange will open MAC Tournament play with a quarterfinal game ... the opponent, site and starting time for that game all are yet to be determined.

WHAT'S AT STAKE
The Falcons have clinched a berth in the MAC Tournament for the sixth consecutive year ... but, BGSU could still finish as high as the third seed, or as low as the eighth seed for the league tourney ... the top-four seeds will host tournament quarterfinal games on Sunday (Nov. 4) ... a win over UT would give the Falcons a chance at a home game for the first round, while a loss or a tie vs. the Rockets would send BG on the road ... here are the gory details ...
• IF BGSU BEATS UT - The Falcons would finish with 18 points, and would wind up anywhere from the third to the fifth seed ... BG would need either Northern Illinois or Eastern Michigan to lose their Thursday game in order to host a quarterfinal game ... NIU is at Western Michigan, while EMU hosts Central Michigan ... both the Huskies and Eagles own the tiebreaker over the Falcons by virtue of a win over BGSU in head-to-head play.
• IF BGSU TIES UT - the Falcons would finish with 16 points, and would finish as either the fifth or the sixth seed.
• IF BGSU LOSES TO UT - the Falcons would finish with 15 points, and would finish anywhere between the fifth and the eighth seed.
BGSU WOULD WIN A TIEBREAKER WITH: Kent State, Miami, Ohio
BGSU WOULD LOSE A TIEBREAKER WITH: EMU, NIU
SOMETHING ALWAYS ON THE LINE WHEN BG MEETS UT
It seems as if something is always on the line when BGSU meets Toledo ... sure, the importance of getting a win over your arch-rival school always exists ... but, the last five games have had a great deal at stake ... in 2004, the Falcons and Rockets met in the final regular-season game, and BG and UT entered that match in a tie for ninth place ... with the winner earning a trip to the MAC Tournament, and the loser seeing the season come to an end, the Falcons picked up a 3-0 victory at Scott Park (Oct. 28, 2004) ... that win put BG into the league tourney as the eighth and final seed, and the Falcons proceeded to win three games and the tournament ... exactly one year later (Oct. 28, 2005), BG and UT again met at Scott Park to close the regular season ... this time, the Falcons needed a win to clinch the first regular-season title in school history ... BGSU got that victory, by the slimmest of margins, 3-2, as Falcon goalie Ali Shingler was forced to make a save in the final seconds of the match ... the teams met at Cochrane Field less than a week later (Nov. 1, 2005), in the quarterfinal round of the MAC Tournament ... top-seeded BGSU and eighth-seeded UT battled through 110 minutes of scoreless soccer, before the Falcons advanced to the semifinal round via penalty kicks ... in the final regular-season game of 2006 (Oct. 26, 2006), with BGSU needing a win to clinch a home berth for the league tourney quarterfinals, the Falcons and Rockets again waged a scoreless battle into overtime ... this time, however, a Brianne Eisenhard goal gave the Falcons a 1-0 win in the second OT period ... three days later (Oct. 29, 2006), however, the Rockets returned to Cochrane Field and exacted some revenge with a 3-0 win in the MAC Tournament quarterfinals ... that UT win snapped a four-game series unbeaten streak for the Falcons.
THAT WACKY BG-UT SERIES
In 12 series meetings between BGSU and Toledo through the years, the home team has won only twice ... the first such result came in the teams' first-ever meeting, in 1997 ... that game actually was held at the Glass Bowl ... the Falcons are 1-3-2 in home games vs. the Rockets - with five of the six games having gone to overtime - but BG is 5-1-0 all-time in road games vs. the Midnight Blue and Gold, including a perfect 5-0-0 at UT's Scott Park Field, the site of Thursday's match ... the Falcons lead the overall series by a 6-4-2 margin.
THE FALCONS ARE ...

BGSU tied Toledo, 0-0 on Nov. 1, 2005, in the quarterfinal round of the MAC Tournament at Cochrane Field, but the Falcons advanced to the semifinals via penalty kicks).
LAST WEEKEND
The Falcons posted a pair of victories at Cochrane Field, increasing the current winning streak to a MAC-best three games ... junior Corbie Yee scored the winning goal in 1-0 decisions against Ohio Friday (Oct. 26) and Akron Sunday (Oct. 28), with the goal vs. OU coming in the second overtime ... redshirt freshman Alexa Arsenault and the BGSU defense increased the team's current shutout streak to 296:43 ... • BGSU went nearly four years without an overtime loss ... after an OT setback vs. Ohio State on Halloween of 2003, the Falcons were unbeaten in the next 10 such matches (5-0-5), including seven-straight at home, before a home loss to Wright State on Sept. 14 of this season;
• Beginning with that WSU game, the Falcons were winless in four consecutive OT matches this year (0-3-1) before the win at Miami ... the Falcons now have a new streak, having won the last two OT contests;
• BGSU is 2-2-3 in MAC Tournament contests that require overtime ... the Falcons advanced via penalty kicks in all three of those ties.

Stephenson scored her first collegiate goal in the Oct. 21 win at Miami ... after scoring that 'Golden Goal,' Stephenson picked up the assist on Yee's OT winner vs. Ohio (Oct. 26), with her pass that split two Bobcat defenders and found an open Yee.
