Swimming and Diving Set to Face Ohio and Miami

BOWLING GREEN,Ohio - The Bowling Green State University Falcons will host a pair of MAC teams as they compete inside Cooper Pool for only the second time this season. Ohio University will travel to Bowling Green Friday (Nov. 9) afternoon for a duel meet, scheduled to start at 5:00 p.m. The following day the Falcons will welcome Miami (OH) at 1:00 p.m.
Scouting the Bobcats: Ohio enters the meet with a perfect 4-0 record. The Bobcats are coming off victories against Buffalo (166-129), and Akron (171-123). Previously, Ohio has beaten Kenyon College (219.5-74.5) and Ohio State (152-148). Last Year, OU took the win against Bowling Green (185-108) at Ohio University Aquatic Center. Alisha Yee took first in the 100 back, Chelsea Lopus won the 100 fly and BG won the 200 free relay. The Bobcats will leave Bowling Green and head to Toledo for a duel meet on Saturday (Nov. 10).
Scouting the Redhawks: Miami is currently 2-0 in MAC competition and 4-1 overall, with their most recent wins coming against Buffalo (188.5-108.5) and Akron (173-119). The victory over Akron was Miami's 48th consecutive MAC duel meet win. Miami won last year's duel meet against BG (192-98). Yee placed first in the 200 back and Michael Carriaga won the 200 fly in that meet which was held at Miami's Nixon Aquatic Center. Prior to Saturday's meet, Maimi will compete in Toledo on Friday (Nov. 9) against the Rockets.
Scouting the Falcons: BG enters the meet at 0-2, dropping duel meets at defending MAC champions Eastern Michigan (154-134) and Ball State (193-107). The Falcons had 11 first place finishes and 29 top three finishes in their first weekend of conference competition. Yee had 6 individual top times, including the 100 and 200 back at both EMU and Ball State along with the 200 IM at EMU and the 400 IM at BSU. Lopus took first in the 100 fly at EMU. Bowling Green also won two relays, the 200 medley and the 400 free. Diver Ashley Belrose took first (239.32) in the 1 meter at BSU and Brittany Collins placed first at EMU with a score of 224.17. These meets will be the 2nd an d 3rd contests that will be held inside Cooper Pool this season (Tom Stubbs Relays 10/19).
Alisha Yee Earns MAC Honors: The Junior swimmer was named Mid-American Conference Swimmer of the Week for her performance against Eastern Michigan and Ball State. She won 7 of 8 events she competed in, including 6 individual victories and 1 relay win.
Swimming and Diving Falcons Names Captains: Senior swimmers Michael Carriaga and Kim Albin along with junior diver Brittany Collins have been named Captains for the 2007-2008 season. This will be the first time serving as captain for all three student-athletes.
