BGSU HOCKEY PROGRAM TO HOST SUMMER HOCKEY SCHOOL
June 09, 2009 | Ice Hockey
Day Camp Will Be Held July 26-30
The Bowling Green State University hockey program will hold its 2009 Falcon Hockey School from July 26-30 at the BGSU Ice Arena. For skaters, the cost of the camp is $275, while the cost for goalies is $250.
The day camp will be split into two groups - the Red Wings, anyone with a birth date between 1998 and 2001, and the Blue Jackets, anyone with a birth date between 1995 and 1997.
The camp will include both on-ice instruction and off-ice activities. The on-ice instruction will include skating and skill development with an emphasis on improving the skaters stride. Skill development will include instruction on the proper techniques of stick handling, shooting and passing.
Participants will get more than two-and-a-half hours of on-ice instruction each day. Off-ice activities will help improve balance, strength and power through plyometric and quick-feet training. There will also be leadership and team-building activities with the campers having access to BGSU's Student Recreation Center.
The Blue Jackets will be on the ice from 10:35 to 11:55 in the morning each day and between 2:35-3:55 in the afternoon. Their off-ice time will be from 9-10 a.m. and 1-2 p.m. For the Red Wings campers, they will be on the ice from 9-10:20 a.m. and 1-2:20 p.m. with off-ice activities scheduled from 10:45 to 11:45 a.m. and between 2:45-3:45 p.m.
The Falcon coaching staff - head coach Scott Paluch and assistant coaches Dennis Williams and Frank Novock - along with members of the BGSU hockey team will provide the instruction for the camp.
