The Bowling Green State University gymnastics team saw its five-match win streak come to an end on Sunday afternoon, finishing third behind Western Michigan (193.925) and Illinois-Chicago (191.150) with a score of 190.675. The tri-meet took place in Kalamazoo, Mich.
The loss is the Falcons' first since Jan. 9 when they finished third to Michigan and Iowa to open the season. The Falcons, who had solid performance of vault and bars, struggled in their final two events, scoring a season low on both beam and floor.
The Falcons do remain undefeated in MAC play (4-0) because Sunday's action was a non-conference meet with the Broncos.
On vault a pair of freshman led the way with Danielle Wishart and Sunny Marchand finishing first and second among the 18 competitors with a 9.800 and 9.725 respectively.
Moving to bars, another freshman, Monica Eaton finished second with a score of 9.850, while senior Breanne Guy was tied for third (9.800). Amber Brewer (9.775) and Kasey Fillmore (9.700) finished fifth and seventh.
Senior Megan Chronister was the top Falcon competitor on the balance beam, finishing fifth with a score of 9.675.
Wishart was the top Falcon on a second event, scoring a 9.725 on floor.
Up next for the Orange and Brown is a trip to Morgantown, West Virginia, next Sunday (Mar. 6). The meet is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
