BOWLING GREEN, Ohio -- Freshman forward Jordan Samuels-Thomas today was recognized by the conference office for his success on the ice after being placed on the CCHA All-Rookie team honorable mention list today.
Samuels-Thomas (Windsor, Conn.) led the Falcons with 11 goals and 25 points on the season and is one of four players with a team-high 14 assists. Of his 11 goals, ten have been scored within conference play. Five of those ten conference goals were scored in the first six games of conference action against Nebraska-Omaha, Ferris State and Alaska. In that six game span he scored seven points, three of which coming during a 5-3 loss to Alaska (Nov. 14) where he sported a 1-2--3 line. He then followed that performance with a pair of assists in Bowling Green's upset win over (then No. 12) Michigan at Yost Ice Arena.
After scoring the go-ahead goal against (then No. 12/13) Michigan State on the power play in a 2-2 tie, he took the team lead with four power-play goals on the season. He also hit his lone game-winning goal against Western Michigan (Jan. 23) in a 3-2 decision. He has participated in four shootouts this season, converting on three of his chances (.750).
Samuels-Thomas has the highest shooting percentage success rate of those with more than 50 shots on goal, converting 11 of 78 shots (.141). He finishes his freshman campaign with a (-3) on-ice rating.
