Mike Emrick Elected To U.S. Hockey Hall Of Fame

Emrick, who is widely known throughout the broadcast industry as “Doc,” graduated from BGSU in 1976 with a doctoral degree in radio-tv film.
In 40 years behind the microphone, Emrick has called 13 Stanley Cup Finals as the lead national announcer on NBC, Versus, FOX and ESPN. Considered one of the premier broadcasters in the hockey world, Emrick has earned several honors including a national Emmy Award for “Outstanding Sports Personality – Play by Play” in 2011, the Lester Patrick Trophy in 2004, as well as seven local Emmy Awards.
Emrick, who has broadcast hockey at five Olympics, recently served as play-by-play announcer for the 2010 Winter Games men's ice hockey final between Canada and the United States. The game was the most watched hockey game in America in 30 years.
The La Fontaine, Indiana native was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2008 after serving more than two decades with MSG and the New Jersey Devils before announcing he'd work exclusively for NBC Sports and Versus on July 21.
