BGSU Ice Hockey Lends a Hand
August 19, 2011 | Ice Hockey
As the end of August approaches, several events remind all Bowling Green residents that the beginning of the school year is quickly approaching. Perhaps the most obvious is the weekend ahead that combines both the annual tractor pull and move in weekend.
The campus and town experience an influx of new students, parents, and tractor enthusiasts that combine to make the entire weekend a possible nightmare for brand new college students. Several members of the BGSU hockey team volunteered their time at the student union this past Friday in an attempt to ease the transition.
Players packed books, filed new purchase orders, and helped families to their cars with new furniture.
“I want the guys to be visible,” said second year head coach Chris Bergeron.
“Besides just being athletes, they know it is part of their responsibility as Bowling Green students to be part of the community and help out. The more exposure we have to the community and student body the better, especially on a hectic day like today."The Falcons open the season with an exhibition game against University of Ontario Institute of Technology on October 2.
