BGSU Performance List
The Bowling Green State University gymnastics team will hit the road to face Pittsburgh on Feb. 18 at 1 p.m. It will be the first off four straight road games for the Orange and Brown.
BGSU is coming off its best performance of the season, scoring 193.975 in a loss to Northern Illinois. The Falcons captured individual performances on three of four events and had a second and third-place finish in the all-around, despite the setback.
While a 1-8 overall and 0-3 MAC record would suggest the team is struggling, that could not be farther from the truth. After opening the year with a 188.925 at Kentucky, the Falcons have improved upon their team score nearly every week. In week two they scored 191.950 versus Central Michigan, and went even higher the following week versus West Virginia, scoring 193.225.
BGSU's 193.975 is the highest score the team has recorded since a 194.375 versus Central Michigan in the 2009-10 season.
Dawn Christman is the reigning BGSU “Papa John's Student Athlete of the Week” after finishing first on the floor (9.900), second on vault (9.825) and fourth on beam (9.625) in her three events versus the Huskies. Her floor score of 9.900 was the first Falcon to do so since 2005, helping her to win the award.
Speaking of awards, Megan Valentini earned MAC Specialist of the Week after finishing first on beam (9.750) and sixth on floor (9.775) in her two events. Her beam score was a career-best.
Pittsburgh is coming off a 193.875-193.475 loss to Michigan State and are now 3-4 overall and 2-2 in conference play (EAGL).
