Falcons Host Huskies in Pink Meet

The Bowling Green State University gymnastics team will host the Northern Illinois Huskies on Sat., Feb. 11 at 4 p.m. inside Anderson Arena. Fans are encouraged to dress in pink as the two teams raise awareness for breast cancer. Admission is free to all.
Bowling Green is coming of a third-place finish in a tri-meet with Maryland and North Carolina, scoring 191.500, their lowest score since the opening meet of the season at Kentucky. The biggest bright spot was freshman Jamilah Ali, who scored a 9.825 on beam to win the event, and recorded the same score on vault, finishing fourth.
Northern Illinois posted its top scores of the season on vault, balance beam and floor as they overcame a 1.225 point deficit in the final half of the meet to defeat Ball State, 192.925-191.125 last Saturday in Victor E. Court. NIU claimed its first Mid-American Conference victory and first home win of the season to improve to 2-3 overall, 1-1 in the MAC. Ball State fell to 1-4, 0-3.
The Falcons (1-7, 0-2 MAC) will be in search of its first home and Mid-American Conference win of the season on Saturday. Despite the record, the Falcons have a lot to build upon, including scores of 193.225 and 192.800 in meets with West Virginia and Western Michigan.
The Falcons are also near the top in several conference categories, including leading the MAC on floor with an average score of 48.735 and second on vault, averaging 48.595.
