Bowling Green lost to Miami Saturday night, falling to the RedHawks by a score of 3-1 at the Goggin Ice Center. Dajon Mingo scored the lone goal for the Falcons, while Hammond (6-10-3) turned away 31- of-34 shots in the loss. The Falcons were once again held scoreless on the power play, going o-for-2 on the evening. Miami was able to make the most of the man advantage, going 1-for-3 in the contest.
Carpenter's Streak
Sophomore Ryan Carpenter's assist on the lone Falcon goal Saturday night pushes his current point streak to an impressive 10 games. The last Falcon to record a point in 10-straight games was Alex Foster back in 2005-06, when he registered a point in 11-straight contests (12/3/05 – 1/16/06).
Rough Time Against Miami
The Falcons' loss Saturday night pushes their current winless streak against Miami to 16 games, with Bowling Green's last regulation win against the RedHawks coming back on Jan. 4, 2008, a 4-2 win at the BGSU Ice Arena. The last Falcon victory in Oxford came back on March 10, 2001, a 4-2 win in the first round of the CCHA Playoffs, a 17-game streak.
First In A While
Miami's sweep of the Falcons pushes their current losing streak to three games, tying their longest losing streak of the season. Miami's sweep of Bowling Green also marks only the third time this season the Falcons have been swept in a two-game series. Prior to the weekend in Oxford, Bowling Green was most recently swept by Ferris State at the BGSU Ice Arena on Nov. 16/17. This past weekend also marks the first time the Falcons have been swept on the road this season.
One Goal Games
Bowling Green has only managed to score one goal in the past three games, accumulating a record of 0-3 in that span. Bowling Green's three-goal output over the past three games ties a season low for the Falcons, set between Nov. 2 – 9, when they went 1-2-0. Prior to the Falcons' three-game skid, Bowling Green was riding a season-best four-game winning streak. During that four game span, the Falcons scored three goals or more in every contest.
Nothing For Rusty
Sophomore Rusty Hafner was held off the score sheet in Friday night's loss, snapping a three game point streak, the longest of his career. Hafner now has one goal and four assists for five points this season.
Trouble On The PK
Miami scored both of their goals on the power play Friday night, marking the seventh game this season that Bowling Green has given up multiple power-play goals. The RedHawks also scored with the man advantage Saturday, equaling the fifth game in a row that the Falcons have allowed a power-play goal.
Cooper On The Board
Freshman Mark Cooper was held off the score sheet Saturday night, snapping his four-game point streak, the longest streak of his career. Cooper is tied for second on the team with seven goals this season, combining with his three assists for 10 points. Cooper is second on the team in rookie scoring, trailing Dajon Mingo's 15 points.
50 Points
Carpenter's assist on the lone Falcon goal Friday night marked his 50th point as a Falcon. Carpenter is the first Falcon to reach the 50-point plateau since the 2009-10 season. That year Tomas Petruska, David Solway, James Perkin and Kai Kantola all reached the half-century mark. Junior Cam Wojtala is also close, currently sitting at 48 career points. Carpenter now sits at 51 career points after securing an assist on Saturday night.
The Power Play
The Falcons were 0-for-2 on the power play Saturday night, marking the third game in a row that the Falcons were held off the board with the man advantage. Bowling Green has one goal in their last 24 opportunities on the power play.
