Losby garners second team honors
Bowling Green State University catcher T.J. Losby was recently voted to the All-Mideast Region team by 38 head coaches representing the American Baseball Coaches Association. Losby, who was a team captain in 2013, garnered second team honors behind All-American recipient Kyle Schwarber (Indiana). The junior from Bryan, Ohio, is one of nine Mid-American Conference student-athletes to be recognized. In total, the two teams were comprised of 26 players.
This award comes on the heels of Losby's career year, where the junior batted .327 with a team-high 39 RBI. Losby was voted as the top catcher in the Mid-American Conference. Losby was not only efficient at the plate this season, but behind the dish, as well. He gunned out 43-percent of attempted base stealers in 2013. Losby, who will return in 2014 along with a large senior class, helped guide the Orange and Brown to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1999. His 211 at-bats during the 2013 campaign were eighth most in school history for a single season, while his 756 career putouts put him in fifth place on the career list. Most impressively, Losby has appeared in 109 consecutive games, dating back to the 2011 MAC Tournament.
