BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University ice hockey team has two players listed on the 2014 Hobey Baker Fan ballot that began on Jan. 14, 2014. Senior Bryce Williamson (Seba Beach, Alberta) and junior Dan DeSalvo (Rolling Meadows, Ill.) are listed on the ballot and fans are allowed to vote once per day at www.hobeybaker.com(.)
Williamson, a forward, ranks second on the team in scoring with 10 goals and 11 assists for 21 points. His 10 goals are tied for first on the team, and ranks in the top five in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association averaging 0.81 points per game. Williamson ranks third in the WCHA in power play points with 6-4=10. His six power-play goals ranks second in the WCHA and owns a plus-1 rating in 26 games played this season. His 21 points on the year is a new single season career-high, besting his 19-point effort a season ago.
Williamson has been named WCHA Offensive Player of the Week on Oct. 22, 2013. He was also named to the Three Rivers Classic All-Tournament Team in Pittsburgh on Dec. 28 at the CONSOL Energy Center.
DeSalvo, a forward, ranks first on the team in overall scoring with six goals and 18 assists for 24 points. His 24 points also leads the WCHA in overall point scoring, averaging 0.92 points per game. DeSalvo is one of seven Falcons to play in all 26 games so far in the 2013-14 season, compiling a plus-9 rating and 17 blocked shots. His 80 shots on goal also leads a Bowling Green team that is second in the WCHA in scoring offense, averaging 3.04 goals per game.
DeSalvo has been tagged as the WCHA Offensive Player of the Week on Nov. 5, 2013.
Bowling Green are currently 12-9-5 overall and 9-6-3 in the WCHA. The Falcons have taken at least one point in their last six WCHA games, going 4-0-2 for 10 points during the stretch to help propel them in sole possession of second place in league standings. The Orange and Brown's next series will take place on Jan. 24-25 at the BGSU Ice Arena. The puck is scheduled to drop at 7:07 p.m. on both nights.
