Kevin Dufour Named WCHA Offensive Player of the Week

Kevin Dufour scored three goals over the weekend, giving him a NCAA leading six goals in four games.

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Kevin Dufour was rewarded for his strong play over the as he was named the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced Monday afternoon.
Dufour, a sophomore from Québec City, Québec, tallied a team-high three goals to help Bowling Green to a WCHA road sweep at Alabama Huntsville. The left-handed winger found the back of the net on half of his six shots on goal as the Falcons captured four points in the league standings. Dufour, who has lit the lamp at least once in all four games this season, has an NCAA Division I-leading six goals overall.
Sophomore goaltender Mathias Dahlstrom of Northern Michigan was named the league's defensive player of the week, allowing just one goal in 43 shots he faced. Dahlstrom's strong play between the pipe led the Wildcats to a season-opening sweep of then-No.18 Wisconsin at the Resch Center in Green Bay.
Austin Vieth, a freshman forward for the University of Alaska, was named WCHA Rookie of the Week. Vieth scored three goals and collected an assists on his way to being named MVP in the Brice Alaska Goal Rush tournament. Vieth's three goals came on just four shots, while he finished the weekend with a plus-2 rating.
Bowling Green will be back on the road next weekend (Oct. 24-25), taking on the Golden Knights of Clarkson in a non-conference weekend series. The Falcons last took on Clarkson Oct. 16, 2010 in a 3-0 win. The Golden Knights lead the all-time series 12-14-1.
