The Falcons moved up to No. 18 in the latest USCHO poll, and are one of four WCHA teams to secure spots in the top 20.
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio -- The Bowling Green State University ice hockey team is ranked No. 18 in this week's USCHO NCAA Division I Men's Hockey Poll, moving up one spot from last week's poll.
The Orange and Brown, who got ranked for the first time since the 2007-08 season in last week's USCHO poll, continued to move up in the rankings this week. The Falcons received 177 points to move up from the 19th slot a week ago.
Bowling Green is one of four Western Collegiate Hockey League (WCHA) teams that earned a spot in the Top 20, as Michigan Tech (1), Minnesota State (9) and Northern Michigan (17) all secured spots. Ferris State is knocking on the door having received 53 votes.
Michigan Tech, who hails at a perfect 10-0-0 on the season, earned 24 first-place votes to jump to the overall No. 1 slot in the USCHO poll. Minnesota State, who is the reigning WCHA Champions, stayed at No. 9 while being idle for the week. Northern Michigan also moved up one slot in the poll to No. 17, also while being idle for the week.
The Falcons will return to the BGSU Ice Arena next weekend (Nov. 21-22), playing host to Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) foe Bemidji State at the BGSU Ice Arena. The two-game series will mark the first meeting between the two teams since the Orange and Brown swept the Beavers to clinch home ice for the first round of the 2014 WCHA Playoffs. Opening face-off is scheduled to begin at 7:07 p.m.
