The 18-ranked Falcons will wear blue laces and tape to help support the fight against prostate cancer.
Bowling Green, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University athletics department, in conjunction with Maurer Family Cancer Care Center at Wood County Hospital, is pleased to announce that ice hockey will host its annual "Cancer Awareness Night" on Friday, Nov. 21 at the BGSU Ice Arena. The 18th-ranked Falcons will host Bemidji State in a Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) affair, and will show their support in the fight against prostate cancer by wearing blue laces and tape throughout the night.
The Maurer Family Cancer Care Center at Wood County Hospital opened in March of 2014, providing compassion, expertise, and the best possible results closer to home for many residents of the Wood County and surrounding area. The Center features the most technologically advanced radiation therapy planning and delivery equipment available. The new Maurer Family Cancer Care Center eliminates the need for patients to travel outside their community to receive highest quality radiation and chemotherapy treatments and clinical trials. The location of the brand new facility, which sits adjacent to the hospital, saves the energy and resources of its patients in the fight of their lives.
"Wood County Hospital is a tremendous supporter of BGSU Athletics and the Wood County Community," Chuck Spicer, General Manager of Falcon Sports Properties, said. "We are excited about this opportunity for our nationally-ranked hockey team to partner with The Maurer Family Cancer Care Center for the second year."
In-Game Activities:
- Dr. Robert Lavey will drop the ceremonial first puck drop at center ice
