Pleger Named MAC Field Athlete Of The Week

Cleveland, Ohio – Bowling Green State University junior Brooke Pleger was named the Mid-American Conference's Field Athlete of the Week after breaking the school record and moving into the top 20 in the country in the weight throw.

With her second throw of Friday's weight throw competition at the GVSU Big Meet, Pleger broke the school record with a toss of 64-feet-5.25. But she wasn't done. On her sixth and final attempt of the day, she launched the weight 67-10.25, a distance that ranks 18^th in the country this year and is six feet further than she had ever thrown before.

Pleger was a three-time MAC Field Athlete of the Week a year ago during the outdoor season but this marks the first time she has earned the honor during the indoor campaign. She was named the MAC's Field Athlete of the Year during the outdoor season in 2013 after winning the hammer throw MAC Championship. She earned first team All-American honors after placing seventh in the event at the national championships.
