Falcon Baseball Summer Update

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – A total of 15 members of the Bowling Green State University baseball team are currently competing across five different collegiate summer leagues.
Nine of the summer ball participants are playing in the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League, while the other Falcons are scattered across the Northwoods League, Valley Baseball League, Tri-State League and the Ohio Valley Summer Collegiate Baseball League.

Kory Brown | OF
Kalamazoo Growlers | Northwoods League
The lone Falcon playing in the Northwoods League, Brown has played a team-high 40 games for the Growlers. Brown is hitting .271, and is second on the club in hits (36) and steals (8). The outfielder has also drawn 22 walks compared to 20 strikeouts.
Tony Landi | RHP
Strasburg Express | Valley Baseball League
Landi has thrown 21 innings out of the bullpen for the Strasburg Express, and owns a 2.57 ERA. The right-hander is 3-2 on the summer and has struck out four batters. The Express sit second in the North Division standings.
Tyler Anderson | RHP
Lima Locos | Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League
Anderson is having a big summer for the first-place Lima Locos, and ranks sixth across the entire league with a 2.49 ERA. The righty has yielded just 15 hits over 21.2 innings. Anderson is 2-0 having fanned 15 and walked just four. Anderson has made three starts and three relief appearances.
Kody Brown | LHP
Galion Graders | Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League
After a strong freshman season, Brown has struck out 10 batters in 12 innings this summer. Across mid-June, the lefty turned in three straight scoreless outings. He threw three shutout frames on June 10, and two scoreless innings on June 24, with a one-batter outing sandwiched in between.
Cody Callaway | INF
Lorain County Ironmen | Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League
Callaway is hitting .274 for the Ironmen with nine runs scored, eight walks and eight RBI. Bowling Green's infielder has also showcased some power with two doubles, and one home run. He is one of just three players on the team to have played long ball.
Zac Carey | RHP
Hamilton Joes | Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League
Carey ranks seventh in the league with a 2.57 ERA, just one spot behind Tyler Anderson. The Louisville Slugger Freshman All-America is 3-0, and is third on the team in innings pitched (28). Carey has racked up 13 strikeouts, while issuing just four free passes. All five of the righty's appearances have been starts.
Hunter Clanin | C/OF
Galion Graders | Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League
The soon-to-be sophomore has registered two hits apiece in two of his last three games. Clanin has scored eight runs, notched 13 hits and has driven in six runs in 22 ballgames. Clanin also has one double and one triple.
Zach Kendall | RHP
Hamilton Joes | Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League
After redshirting his first season on campus, Kendall has made six appearances for the Joes. Most recently on July 6, making his second start of the summer, Kendall tossed five innings of one-run ball. In total, Kendall has yielded 12 hits, fanned 14, walked five and owns a 2.87 ERA across 15.2 innings.
Justin Mott | C
Northern Ohio Baseball Club | Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League
In 17 games played, Mott has recorded 13 hits and has scored four runs. The Falcons' backstop has also swiped three bags, knocked in five, and has only struck out two times compared to four walks. Mott went 2-for-3 on July 15.
Matt Smith | OF
Grand Lake Mariners | Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League
Smith is playing for the now 16-15 Grand Lake Mariners. On July 11, Smith went 2-for-4 with two RBI, a double and a run scored. The rising senior has knocked in nine, walked seven times in 21 games. Smith has also ripped a triple to go along with three doubles.
Rob Zenas | RHP
Lake Erie Monarchs | Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League
Zenas is absolutely dealing for the Lake Erie Monarchs. Across three starts (18 innings), he has surrendered just one run, which is good enough for a 0.50 ERA. During his last start on July 12, Zenas threw eight shutout innings, striking out six with no walks. The tall right-hander has allowed 14 total hits, and has walked just two against 11 strikeouts.

Madisonville Miners | Ohio Valley Summer Collegiate Baseball League
Greiner is batting .269 with 17 singles and one triple for the Madisonville Miners in 24 games played. He has 12 RBI to his name, to go along with 11 walks and six runs.

Rospert has stolen two bases and has scored 14 runs in 20 games. The speedy outfielder has also hit a home run, as well as a triple. Rospert has three RBI and seven walks.

Drewes has played in seven games, and is batting .250 with four RBI, three walks and three stolen bases. Drewes also has scored two runs.

Rickenberg has made six appearances, four of which have been starts, for the Toledo Hawks. He has struck out 24 batters over 21 innings, and has even notched a save. Rickenberg has allowed 14 hits, and owns a 2-1 record with a 3.85 ERA.
