Raven Porter Named MAC Field Athlete Of The Week

Cleveland, Ohio – Raven Porter, a junior from Cleveland Heights, Ohio, has been named the Mid-American Conference Field Athlete of the Week after setting a new personal best in the high jump Saturday at the BG Opener. Porter jumped 5-feet-8.75 (1.75m) to win the event and rank among the top 20 nationally.

Porter passed 5-5 (1.65m) on her first attempt at the height Saturday and then cleared 5-7 (1.70m) on just her second attempt. She surpassed 5-8.75 (1.75m) on her third and final chance before failing to clear 5-10 (1.78m). Porter's mark is the best in the MAC this year and ranks her 15^th in the country.

Now an automatic qualifier for the MAC Championships, Porter finished seventh at the MAC Indoor Championships a year ago with her previous career best of 5-6.25. She has qualified for both the MAC Indoor and Outdoor Championships in the high jump, long jump and triple jump during her career. It is the first time Porter has earned the league's Field Athlete of the Week award.
