EDINA, Minn. – Bowling Green senior forward Kevin Dufour was named Western Collegiate Hockey Association Offensive Player of the Week, announced Monday afternoon. The native of Quebec City, Quebec scored in back-to-back games against Northern Michigan this weekend to help lift the Falcons to its first sweep of the season.
In addition to scoring each night, Dufour tallied a collective five shots on goal, one blocked shot and a +2 rating on the weekend. With Dufour's help, the Falcons outscored the Wildcats by a 5-1 mark on Friday and 5-3 on Saturday to earn its first road sweep of the year.
On Friday, the Quebec City, Quebec native tallied not only his first goal of the season, but also the game-winning goal when he capitalized on a wrister midway through the first period to put the Falcons up 2-0. On Saturday, Dufour found the back of the net 5:16 into the second period to break a 2-2 tie and gave the Falcons the 3-2 lead with a wraparound attempt to go on a two-game scoring streak.
It is the third time in his career that Dufour has been awarded conference Offensive Player of the Week honors, and the first time since Feb. 27-March 4, 2016 that he has scored in back-to-back games.
The Bowling Green hockey program will continue with road action this weekend, as it faces Alabama Huntsville in WCHA play Friday and Saturday evening. Both games are set for 7:07 central time puck drops.
