Three Falcon Seniors Moving On For Professional Hockey Opportunities
March 25, 2016 | Ice Hockey
Bowling Green, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University hockey team has announced that three seniors have agreements in place to continue their careers at the professional level. Assistant captain Mark Cooper has signed an amateur tryout contract (ATO) with the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League (AHL). Assistant captain Brent Tate has already begun his tenure with the Toledo Walleye of the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) and Ben Murphy has signed a contract to play with the Tulsa Oilers of the ECHL.
"For most of our team, the ultimate goal is to play professionally," BGSU Head Coach Chris Bergeron said. "It's important that we develop players who are ready to contribute professionally when their time at BGSU is over and we have a tremendous tradition of Falcons who have gone on to achieve success in the hockey world. We wish our seniors nothing but the best."
Those three seniors, along with Jose Delgadillo and Tommy Burke, led the Falcons to 78 wins during their four seasons, the most for a class since 1996-97. The Falcons placed third in the WCHA in each of the team's three years in the league and the team won a first round playoff series in each of the four years the seniors competed.
Tate has already played with the Walleye, earning one shot on goal in a 3-1 loss to Evansville Sunday.
