- Michigan Tech's lead did not last long, as freshman Cameron Wright picked up his fourth goal of the season on the power play to tie up the game at 1-1 with just 17 seconds remaining in the opening period, which was exactly six minutes after the Huskies got on the board.
- Just 14 seconds into a five minute major power play, senior Mitch McLain lifted the Falcons to a 2-1 lead over Michigan Tech midway through the game with a shot in the slot. McLain's second goal of the season kept the Falcons ahead on the scoreboard until 5:04 remained in regulation when the Huskies forced overtime at a 2-2 score.
- After a scoreless 5x5 overtime session, followed by a scoring drought in the 3x3 overtime, the pair of conference foes went into a sudden death shootout. The teams went through five shooters before Baylis' top shelf goal put the Falcons up against Michigan Tech. Sophomore goaltender Ryan Bednard held off a sixth Husky for the potential tying shootout attempt, to give the Falcons the extra point advantage for WCHA standings.
- For the shootout attempts, the Falcons sent out a lineup of consisting of freshman Brandon Kruse, sophomore Alec Rauhauser, freshman Cameron Wright, McLain, and freshman Max Johnson – who hit the pipe, before Baylis.

Coach Bergeron's Take
- "We need to find a way to score more goals, but overall I liked how we competed and we were engaged the whole game, so I'm happy with it. It was a special teams weekend and we needed the power play to get us the offense and they did that. I didn't like that we gave up another power play goal tonight, but Michigan Tech's power play was really good and we still went 4-for-5 on the penalty kill."
- "We had the five minute power play, but gave up two minutes of it on another penalty. We didn't do a great job of executing after that. It obviously was not what we're looking for, but I was to give Michigan Tech a bunch of credit, and they're really good at home. They're a proud group and they came at us, when they were shorthanded or whenever so I'm happy with the weekend as a whole."
