Falcons Head To Muncie For Friday Match Against Ball State

Bowling Green, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University tennis team will face Ball State Friday in Muncie, Ind. at 1 p.m. The Falcons are now 1-1 in conference play after suffering a loss to Eastern Michigan and defeating Toledo.
"We have a tough match ahead of us this Friday, but we are going into it with the mindset of competing and taking the opportunities we create," head coach Stephanie Dalmacio said. "I'm excited to watch another battle."
Last week the Falcons lost a match to Eastern Michigan, 6-1 in Ypsilanti, Mich. Picking up the lone point for BG was sophomore Polina Radeva who defeated junior Andrea Martinovska, 6-2, 4-6, 6-3. The Orange and Brown rebounded from the Friday loss with a 4-3 victory over the University of Toledo at the Perrysburg Tennis Center. Sophomore Paula Comella and freshman Marharita-Sophia Tavpash along with Radeva and freshman Ayumi Sasaki helped capture the doubles point for BG. Earning singles victories for the Orange and Brown were Comella, Radeva and Sasaki.
Ball State, the defending Mid-American Conference champions enter the weekend with and overall record of 14-2, and the Cardinals are 2-1 in conference play. BSU has defeated Western Michigan (6-1) and Northern Illinois (6-1). Head coach Max Norris returns seven in seniors Carmen Blanco, Rosalinda Calderon and Toni Ormond, junior Julie Sbircea and sophomores Audrey Berger, Isabelle Dohanics and Peyton Gollhoffer. Ball State was predicted to finish second in the league, according to the preseason poll. The Falcons lead the Cardinals, 20-19, in the all-time series between the teams. Last year, Ball State went 22-4 overall and 7-1 in MAC play.
Following this weekend's matches, BGSU will return home face the Miami RedHawks Sunday, April 9 at 1 p.m.
