BGSU Ranked No. 9 In USCHO Poll

Bowling Green, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University hockey team has been ranked No. 9 in this week's official USCHO poll. This is the highest Bowling Green hockey has been ranked since March 16, 2015 when the Falcons were ranked No. 9. The last time BGSU was ranked higher than No. 9 was February 16, 2015 when they were No. 8.
This comes after a week that saw Bowling Green post a record of 2-0-1 against two top 20 opponents. The Falcons completed the sweep of (then No. 19) Western Michigan on Tuesday (Oct. 23) with a 4-1 win over the Broncos. Bowling Green then played No. 7 (then No. 4) Ohio State in a home-and-home series over the weekend that saw the Falcons win 8-2 on Friday (Oct. 26) in Columbus, before returning home on Saturday (Oct. 27) to tie the Buckeyes 2-2.
Friday's 8-2 win over Ohio State was Bowling Green's first victory over a top 10 ranked team since Mar. 11, 2012 when the Falcons defeated No. 2 ranked Ferris State in the CCHA Tournament 4-3.
BGSU is one of two WCHA teams in the poll, joining No. 4 Minnesota State.
The Falcons will continue their home stand this weekend when they host Northern Michigan to open WCHA play for the year. Friday's (Nov. 2) game will start at 7:37pm and Saturday's (Nov. 3) game will begin at 7:07pm.
In the preseason polls, Bowling Green and Northern Michigan were picked to finish back-to-back in second and third place. Each team was selected to finish ahead of the other in the media and coaches polls.
