Bloomington, Minn. – Three players on the Bowling Green State University hockey team have been voted WCHA Players of the Week. Sophomore Max Johnson has been voted WCHA Forward of the Week, junior Alec Rauhauser has been voted WCHA Defenseman of the Week, and junior Ryan Bednard has been voted WCHA Goaltender of the Week.
Max Johnson capped off the month of October with a five point week as the Falcons went 2-0-1 in three games with two top 20 opponents. He scored the game winning goal in Tuesday (Oct. 23) night's win over Western Michigan, and then scored his first career hat trick on Friday (Oct. 26) in Bowling Green's 8-2 win at Ohio State. He would then add an assist the following (Oct. 27) night at home as BGSU tied with OSU 2-2.
As of now Johnson is tied for first in the nation in scoring with 13 points, and alone in third place in goals with six.
This is Johnson's first WCHA weekly award of the 2018-19 season and his second career honor.

Alec Rauhauser continued to add to Bowling Green's success both defensively and offensively. He had one assist against Western Michigan, and three in the Falcons' 8-2 win over Ohio State, posting a four point week. On Saturday (Oct. 27) he led the way defensively with eight of his nine blocked shots of the week. Rauhauser also continues to lead the team in plus minus at +9.
This is Rauhauser's first weekly award of the campaign and his career third.

Ryan Bednard started all three games this past week for the Falcons posting a record of 2-0-1. He remains unbeaten on the year at 5-0-1. Facing (then No. 19) Western Michigan and (then No. 4) Ohio State (twice), Bednard yielded just five goals, posting a 1.62 goals-against average, 73 saves and a .936 save percentage. He stopped 19-of-20 shots against the Broncos, then stopped 54-of-58 attempts by the Buckeyes.
This is Bednard's second WCHA weekly award this season and his fourth career honor.
The Falcons will continue their home stand this weekend when they host Northern Michigan to open WCHA play for the year. Friday's (Nov. 2) game will start at 7:37pm and Saturday's (Nov. 3) game will begin at 7:07pm.
In the preseason polls, Bowling Green and Northern Michigan were picked to finish back-to-back in second and third place. Each team was selected to finish ahead of the other in the media and coaches polls.
