BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – Three players on the Bowling Green State University hockey team have been voted WCHA Players of the Month.
Sophomore Max Johnson has been voted WCHA Forward of the Month, junior Alec Rauhauser has been voted WCHA Defenseman of the Month, and junior Ryan Bednard has been voted WCHA Goaltender of the Month. This comes just two days after the trio won WCHA Players of the Week honors at their respective positions.

Max Johnson caps off the month of October tied for the NCAA scoring lead with 13 points. A facilitator as well as a scorer, Johnson lit the lamp six times on 18 shots (currently the team high) and had seven assists, while tallying at least one point in six of his seven games. Johnson has led a potent BGSU power play, leading the country with 10 man-advantage points and tying for first in the nation with five power-play goals.

He opened with a four-point contest (2g-2a) in an 8-2 road win at Mercyhurst (Oct. 6), tallied four assists in a home-and-home series against Robert Morris (Oct. 12, 14), scored the game-winning goal in a 4-1 home victory over (then No. 19) Western Michigan (Oct. 23), recorded his first career hat trick in an 8-2 road win at No. 7 (then No. 4) Ohio State (Oct. 26) and picked up an assist in a 2-2 tie at home against the Buckeyes (Oct. 27). His five-point week vs. WMU and OSU earned him WCHA Forward of the Week honors (Oct. 23-27).
This is Johnson's first career WCHA monthly award.

Alec Rauhauser tied for the NCAA lead with a WCHA-best +9 rating in October, while tallying eight points for No. 9 Bowling Green. His eight assists tied for fifth nationally (tied for third among defensemen) and were first among WCHA blueliners (second overall). The junior added eight blocked shots and helped the Falcons rank second in the WCHA (eighth in the country) by yielding just 1.71 goals-per-game.
A returning All-American, Rauhauser posted multi-point games in Bowling Green's victories Oct. 6 at Mercyhurst (2a), Oct. 9 at (then-No. 18) Western Michigan (2a) and Oct. 26 at (then-No. 4) Ohio State (3a). He also had an assist in the Falcons' 4-1 home win vs. WMU on Oct. 23. In addition to leading WCHA defensemen in assists, Rauhauser was first in points, power-play assists (five), power-play points (five, tied), and assists- and points-per-game (both 1.14).
This is Rauhauser's third career WCHA monthly award.
Ryan Bednard ended October having posted a 5-0-1 record with a 1.48 goals-against average, a .940 save percentage and one shutout. He has made the most starts (six) of the NCAA's 18 undefeated goaltenders, while his 140 saves are the most among that group.

He posted 34 saves at (then No. 18) Western Michigan (Oct. 9), leading the Falcons to a 6-2 victory despite being outshot 36 to 19, and posted a 15-save shutout in Bowling Green's 6-0 win vs. Robert Morris in the home opener on Oct. 14. Bednard then closed out the month making 31 stops on 33 shots in a historic victory at No. 7 (then No. 4) Ohio State (Oct. 26). He then turned aside 23 shots the tie with the Buckeyes on Saturday Oct. 27. His efforts earned him two WCHA Goaltender of the Week awards so far this season.
This is Bednard's second WCHA weekly award this season and his fourth career honor.
