CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – The Bowling Green State University baseball team splits its Sunday (Feb. 25) doubleheader at Southeast Missouri State University. The victory in the first game of the day allowed the Falcons to split the four-game weekend series.

Bowling Green picked up a 5-2 victory in the first game of the day, before dropping a tough 9-7 decision in the second game of the day. Southeast Missouri scored four runs in the eighth inning to steal a series win away from the Falcons.

"Overall, we came out here and competed extremely hard all day," said head coach Danny Schmitz. "It's tough when we were so close to doing what we came here to do, but there were certainly a lot of positives throughout the weekend that we can build off of."

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
• Tyler Anderson picked up the win for the Falcons, going 5.0 innings and only allowing one earned run. Anderson struck out four, and walked just one.
• Jeff Scott highlighted the game-one offense, going 2-for-3 for four RBI, one run and one walk. Scott hit a two-run home run in the first, before recording a two-RBI single in the fifth.
• In a pinch-hit role, Joe McGuinness added a key insurance run with a single in the seventh.
• Randy Righter, Justin Mott and Ty Suntken also posted hits for the Orange and Brown.
• Brad Croy logged one scoreless inning, before Daniel Buratto and Jeremy Spezia combined to get the final three outs.

GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
• Neil Lambert posted a game-high three hits in the second game of the day. Lambert went 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run and one walk.
• Randy Righter (2-for-4), Jeff Scott (2-for-5) and Dylan Dohanos (2-for-5) each posted multiple-hit games for the Falcons. All three players scored a run, as well.
• Derek Drewes hit the first home run of his career in the seventh inning, which gave Bowling Green a 7-4 lead.
• Also registering hits for the Falcons were Anthony Smith, Gama Martinez and Nick Neibauer.
• Righter got the start for the Falcons, and grinded out 3.0 innings of two-run ball.
• Daniel Buratto got key outs throughout the day. He allowed just one run over 1.2 innings.
