RICHMOND, Ky. – The Bowling Green State University baseball team dropped a 9-0 contest at Eastern Kentucky University on Wednesday (Feb. 28) afternoon. Following the ballgame, both teams are 2-6 on the season.
Bowling Green starter Chandler Stillings did a good job of limiting a potential big frame to just one run in the bottom of the first. EKU put runners on second and third with no outs, but the southpaw got out of the inning with BGSU down just 1-0.
"All three phrases were pretty poor for us today," said head coach Danny Schmitz. "We didn't give ourselves much of a chance. We will need to play much better baseball on the weekend in order to accomplish our goals."
Stillings couldn't get out of the second inning, however, as Eastern Kentucky scored another run, before breaking the game open with three-run frames in both the third and fourth innings. The Colonels concluded the game' scoring with a single run in the eighth.
Bowling Green will continue its spring trip by playing at NC State on Friday at 3 p.m. The Falcons will then head over to Buies Creek, N.C. for a doubleheader versus Canisius on Saturday, before playing a single game against hosts Campbell on Sunday.
