Aliyah Gustafson Named MAC Field Athlete Of The Week
May 01, 2018 | Women's Track and Field
Aliyah Gustafson, a redshirt senior from Iowa City, Iowa, has been named the Mid-American Conference Field Athlete of the Week. Gustafson broke her own school record in the shot put to win Louisville's Lenny Lyles-Clark Wood Invitational Saturday.
Â
Gustafson threw the shot put 56-feet-11.5 (17.36m), which is more than four feet further than any other student-athlete in the MAC this year. She ranks eighth nationally and defeated eight competitors ranked in the top 100 in the country, three of which are ranked in the top 50.
Â
It marks the third straight week in which a Bowling Green track and field student-athlete was recognized as a MAC Athlete of the Week. Rachel Walny was named the MAC Track Athlete of the Week last week and Gustafson earned Field Athlete of the Week honors just prior to that.
