Nine From Falcon Hockey to Participate in NHL Development Camps

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – A total of nine players from the Bowling Green hockey program were invited to participate in 2018 National Hockey League (NHL) Development Camps. Six returners to the program, including one incoming freshman, join two alumni of the program taking the next step towards the professional level.
Most recently selected in the 2018 NHL Draft, sophomore forward Brandon Kruse will join the Vegas Golden Knights, while as a 2016 draft pick senior defenseman Adam Smith will participate in the Nashville Predators development camp. The Bowling Green roster now sports three NHL draft picks, including junior goaltender Ryan Bednard, who will participate in the Florida Panthers development camp as a 2015 draftee.
Senior forward Stephen Baylis was invited to the Boston Bruins development camp as a free agent. Also a free agent, junior forward Lukas Craggs was invited to the Winnipeg Jets development camp, while junior defenseman Alec Rauhauser will join the LA Kings camp roster. In the 2017-18 campaign, Rauhauser was named WCHA Defensive Player of the Year after garnering 39 points in 31 games played, and had attended the 2017 Toronto Maple Leafs development camp. Joining the free agent squad of the Bowling Green participants will be incoming freshman defenseman Tim Theocharidis, who was invited by the Columbus Blue Jackets.
A 2014 NHL Draft selection of the Philadelphia Flyers, 2016-17 Falcon defenseman Mark Friedman will participate in the Flyers development camp as well, while 2017-18 Falcon hockey captain and now Bowling Green alum Mitch McLain is invited to the Minnesota Wild development camp after playing 10 games at the conclusion of the season with the Wild's AHL affiliate the Iowa Wild.
The Falcons' nine participants in NHL development camps leads the league of the WCHA's 29 total invitees, and is the most in recent years for the program since the Falcons sent seven players to development camps in 2017.
The Bowling Green hockey program recently released its 2018-19 schedule, and season tickets are on sale now.
