BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – Two players on the Bowling Green State University hockey team have been voted WCHA Players of the Month for December.
Junior Lukas Craggs has been voted WCHA Forward of the Month, and junior Ryan Bednard has been voted WCHA Goaltender of the Month. This after the Falcons posted a record of 5-0-1 in the month of December, including a sweep over No. 3 Minnesota State.
Lukas Craggs led the attack for Bowling Green in the month December. Over six games in the month Craggs recorded six goals and two assists for eight total points. He had three game-winning- goals and was a plus-nine through the month. Craggs' six goals were tied for most in the country through December.
A junior from Elmhurst, Ill., Lukas Craggs opened the month with two consecutive game-winners in Bowling Green's road sweep at Alabama Huntsville (Dec. 1-2), part of a three-goal weekend. Craggs then had a three-point game (1g-2a) in a 4-3, overtime road victory at Ferris State (Dec. 8). He would then cap off the month with a second multi-goal contest scoring twice including the game-winner as BGSU defeated Minnesota State, 4-1 (Dec. 15) to finish a two-game sweep of the then-No. 3 Mavericks.
Lukas Craggs's efforts against Minnesota State earned him WCHA Forward of the Week honors on Dec. 17. He continues to lead the Falcons in goals with 13. This is Craggs' first WCHA Monthly Award.

Ryan Bednard posted a record of 3-0-1 across his four starts in the month of December. All against WCHA opponents. A junior from Macomb, Mich. Bednard is tied for second in the league in December wins, was second with a 1.72 goals-against average and fifth with a .931 save percentage.
The Florida Panthers prospect opened the month with a 26 save performance in a 6-2 road win at Alabama Huntsville (Dec. 1) and made 21 saves in a 3-3 tie at Ferris state (Dec. 8). 'Bedzy' was then brilliant in the Falcons' sweep of then-No. 3 Minnesota State (Dec. 14-15), holding what was then the nation's second-ranked offense to just two goals on the weekend. Ryan Bednard turned aside 46 of the Mavericks' 48 shots against him, allowing the Falcons to sit alone in second place in the WCHA heading into the season's second half.
This is Ryan Bednard's first WCHA monthly award of the 2018-19 campaign, and his second career honor.
The Falcons will return to home ice on Friday (Jan. 3) night to close their two game series with Bemidji State. Puck drop will be at 7:37 pm in Slater Family Ice Arena.
