Swimming And Diving Falls Short In Buffalo

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University swimming and diving program competed in their fourth MAC meet of the season, coming up short against Buffalo with a final of 176-117. The loss moves the Falcons to a 7-5 record on the season with a 1-3 standing within the conference.

The Falcons will conclude their regular season with a two day event in Toledo, taking place on Friday, Feb. 8 and Saturday, Feb. 9. This will be both Bowling Green and Toledo's last meet prior to the MAC Championships. The Rockets will enter the competition with a 3-5 record, 0-3 within the MAC. This year, Toledo lost to Eastern Michigan, Ohio, and Miami within the conference. Friday's portion of the meet will begin at 5 p.m., with Saturday starting at 11 a.m.

First Place Falcons
- The Falcons earned their first first place finish of the meet in the 100 Backstroke with Daisy Platts registering a time of 56:42. She was followed by Lauren Sullivan with a time of 58:22, give BGSU the top two spots.
- Platts and Sullivan gave Bowling Green another one-two punch in the 200 Backstroke. Platts took first again, this time finishing in 2:01.85, with Sullivan not far behind in second at 2:04.81.
- Talisa Lemke rallied in another win in the 1-meter dive, tallying a score of 276.08, earning nine points for the Falcons.
Other Top Performances
- To open the meet, the Falcons claimed a second place finish in the 200 Medley Relay with the team of Platts, Nikki Borgerding, Sarah Hennings and Anna Eriksson finishing with a time of 1:46.08.
- In the next event, the 1000 Freestyle, the Falcons took second, third, and fourth with Kellie House (10:30.01), Mary Edwards (10:39.36) and Meghan Burnard (11:05.81) finishing respectively.
- Talisa Lemke barely missed another first place finish in the 3-meter dive, coming away with a score of 294.90, giving her a second place finish.
- In the 200 Breaststroke, the Falcons again took second, third, fourth and fifth with Borgerding (2:28.47), Emily Verbrugge (2:28.47), Kasie Perretta (2:31.66) and Kristen Puthoff (2:35.47) finishing.
- Following, in the 500 Freestyle, Bowling Green snagged second through fifth with House (5:10.02), Edwards (5:11.16), Maddy Andrews (5:13.67) and Burnard (5:29.61) coming in for the Falcons.
- For the third consecutive event, the Falcons saw the same results of claiming second through fifth. This time the Orange and Brown had Hennings (56.84), Eriksson (59.21), Michaela Ruddock (1:02.59) and Sarah Fergus (1:02.70) compete.
- In the 200 IM, the Falcons claimed second through fifth yet again. In this meet, BGSU was led by Platts (2:08.47), Borgerding (2:15.41), Verbrugge (2:17.13) and Elodie Schreiber (2:17.88).
- To conclude the meet, the Orange and Brown took second, third and fourth in the 200 Freestyle Relay.
