THE ALL-TIME HISTORY
Friday will be the 48th meeting between Bowling Green and Central Michigan with CMU holding a 31-16 advantage. The Falcons, though, have won the last two meets, including a victory in McGuirk Arena two years ago, 195.725-195.625. CMU last beat Bowling Green at home in 2015, posting a 196.125 for the victory. The 2017 BGSU victory snapped a streak of 15 consecutive losses at Central Michigan for the Falcons.
VAULTING TOWARDS SUCCESS
BGSU is currently ranked No. 26 in the country on vault, the only top 30 individual event ranking for either team competing Friday. In fact, it is the highest team ranking in the MAC for any of the four events. Bowling Green has been consistently great in all five meets, scoring at least 48.525 each time out and twice going over 49.000. BGSU peaked at 49.050 in the home meet against UIC. Jovannah East leads the Falcons individually, averaging a 9.811, followed by Taylor Worthington at 9.782. The Falcons have five athletes averaging at least a 9.729 on the event.
FLOORING THE FIELD
Bowling Green closed Sunday's meet against Kent State in historic fashion, posting a 49.350 score on the floor. That was just shy of the program record 49.425 on floor and would have been a program record on any other apparatus. Jovannah East recorded just the second 9.975 score in program history, while Lexi Augustine's 9.925 was among the 10 best scores in school history as well. In all, the Falcons had five routines that rated 9.800 or better.
HISTORICALLY GREAT
Bowling Green has placed in the top three at the MAC Championships in each of the past three seasons, peaking with a runner-up finish in 2017. For the Falcons, it is the first time the team has placed that high in three consecutive years since doing so for eight straight years from 1981-88.
JOVANNAH EAST GOING WHERE FEW HAVE GONE BEFORE
As a sophomore a year ago, Jovannah East became just the second Falcon gymnast to qualify for the NCAA Division I National Championships and the first to do so in the all-around competition. Her 39.250 score in Columbus was the greatest all-around performance ever by a BGSU gymnast in a regional meet, tying for fourth place. She scored identical scores of 9.850 on beam and floor, added 9.825 on vault and had a 9.725 on bars. She won the tiebreaker and advanced to the national championships.
MAKING SIGNIFICANT STRIDES
A handful of Falcons have made strong strides in 2019.
* Senior Leslie Delgado is averaging a 9.796 on bars in 2019 after scoring a 9.713 a year ago.
* Elena Lawson competed on just vault a year ago, averaging 9.529. She has improved to a 9.743 this year. She's also added regular competition on bars and floor. Lawson has posted a new career-high in six of the team's seven meets this year.
* Katie Morsefield is scoring 9.729 on vault this year after 9.668 a year ago. She has added the floor exercise to her repertoire, averaging 9.760 on the event.
* Taylor Worthington missed the entire 2018 season due to injury but has rebounded even better than ever. She's scoring a 9.782 on vault (compared to 9.704 in 2017) and a 9.639 on beam, up from 9.615 in 2017.

FROM COACH KERRIE TURNER
"Our focus for Friday is putting together four solid events. Our depth has really been stretched early on this season but we seem to have some consistency to our line ups now. Every meet is an opportunity for each line up to build and gain confidence in one another. We will stay focused only on our team and fight for every single tenth."
