CINCINNATI, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University baseball team was defeated by the University of Cincinnati on Monday (March 11) afternoon by a score of 4-3. The Falcons seemingly could not catch a break throughout the series, losing all three games by the same score line. The series was played at UC's Marge Schott Stadium.
Cincinnati grabbed an early 2-0 lead, scoring single runs in both the third and fourth innings. In the top of the sixth, Brad Croy poked an RBI single into center field to score Jake Wilson, but UC extended its lead out to 4-1 with a two-run bottom half.
Neil Lambert brought the Falcons right back into the ballgame in the eighth, as he scored both Croy and Wilson with a single. BGSU went on to threaten in the ninth, but the Bearcats pitched out of the jam to secure the win.
Riley Minorik led off the frame with a single, and then Anthony Smith walked with two outs, putting runners at the corners. However, a strikeout ended the contest. Croy, Minorik and Wilson each registered two hits.
David Stopp (1.1 innings), Daniel Buratto (0.2 innings), Griffin Parrill (0.2 innings) and Jeremy Spezia (0.1 innings) logged scoreless appearances for the Orange and Brown. Will MacLean got the start for the Falcons and was solid over 5.0 innings, allowing two runs on five hits.
