BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – Max Johnson and Alec Rauhauser of the Bowling Green State University hockey team have been voted Players Of The Week by the Western Collegiate Hockey Association. Max Johnson has won WCHA Forward Of The Week, while Alec Rauhauser has won WCHA Defenseman Of The Week. This following a pair of great performances as Bowling Green swept Northern Michigan in the WCHA Semifinals.
Max Johnson continued to have the hot stick in Bowling Green's 6-1 victory over Northern Michigan in game one (March 15) of the WCHA Semifinals last weekend. The sophomore from Lakeville, Minnesota recorded two goals and two assists for the second straight game coming into Friday (March 15). Johnson would open the scoring for Bowling Green in the second period of play, before tallying back-to-back assists on BGSU's two power play goals to begin the third period. He would score one more in the third period to extend the Falcon lead. In addition to leading the Falcons in goals, Max Johnson has recorded 12 points over BG's five game winning streak.
This is Johnson's third WCHA weekly award of the 2018-19 season (Oct. 29, March 11), his second in a row and fourth career honor.

Junior Alec Rauhauser recorded a three point series in BGSU's sweep of NMU (March 15-16). The junior from Bismark, N.D. picked up assists on both of Bowling Green's power play goals in the third period to put away the Wildcats on Friday (March 15). Rauhauser then followed up the performance with an assist on Sam Craggs' overtime game-winning goal to win the series for the Falcons on Saturday (March 16) night. The 6-3 defenseman had eight shots on goal in the series, and four blocked shots. Rauhauser continues to lead the roster in plus/minus (plus-22).
This is Rauhauser's fourth weekly award of the 2018-19 campaign (Oct. 29, Feb. 25, March 4) and the sixth of his career.
The series win has advanced Bowling Green to its second WCHA Championship Game appearance in three seasons. The Falcons will travel to Mankato, Minnesota this weekend to battle the No. 1 seeded Minnesota State Mavericks in one game to decide the 2019 WCHA Tournament Championship with an automatic berth in the NCAA Tournament at stake. The game will take place Saturday, March 23 at 8:07 PM eastern time in the Verizon Center.
