March 19, 2019 | Ice Hockey
Bowling Green, Ohio – Thanks to a generous donation from Scott Slater and family, Bowling Green State University will be well-represented in Mankato, Minn. for the WCHA Championship game Saturday evening. As well, BGSU Athletics has announced a watch party at Slater Family Ice Arena for Saturday night's contest.
BGSU's band, as well as select members of the Bleacher Creatures, will be in the Verizon Center Saturday night to provide a slice of home ice. Slater has donated funds to provide a charter flight for the hockey team to Minnesota.
"BGSU is a special place to be because of people like Scott Slater," BGSU Hockey Head Coach Chris Bergeron said. "Scott's support of our staff and our program goes so far above and beyond it is hard to put into words. His generous gifts to our program will help our team to be prepared and fresh for Saturday's WCHA Championship game. As well, having the band and bleacher creatures in the arena will provide some comfort for our team in a hostile environment to give us the best chance of putting together our best effort."
BGSU Hockey, ranked No. 13 in the country, will play for the WCHA Championship Saturday night at 8:07 pm ET at No. 2 Minnesota State. The winner will earn the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
