Alec Rauhauser Wins Second Straight WCHA Defenseman Of The Week Award

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – Alec Rauhauser of the Bowling Green State University hockey team has been voted Defenseman Of The Week by the Western Collegiate Hockey Association. This following a two point weekend in Bowling Green's home series against Alabama Huntsville. This is the second week in a row Rauhauser has won the honor, as he was also voted Defenseman Of The Week following BGSU's series at Bemidji State (Feb. 25).
A junior from Bismark, North Dakota, Rauhauser would score a power play goal from the blue line to put BGSU up 3-0 over the Chargers in the first period on Saturday (March 2) night. He would also tally an assist on Bowling Green's first goal of the contest. Rauhauser has tallied six multi-point games this season, and 18 in his career. He is also +20 on the year, which is the team high.
This is Rauhauser's third weekly award of the 2018-19 campaign (Oct. 29 and Feb. 25) and the fifth of his career.
The Falcons return to home ice this weekend to host the first round of the WCHA Playoffs for the sixth straight season. No. 3 seeded Bowling Green will host No. 6 seeded Michigan Tech for a best two out of three series in Slater Family Ice Arena (March 8-10). Game one will be this Friday (March 8) at 7:37 PM, with game two set for Saturday (March 9) at 7:07 PM. If necessary, game three will be Sunday (March 10) at 7:07 PM.
Scott Slater will generously pay for 1,000 student tickets for each night of the first round of the WCHA Playoffs. After the first 1,000 student tickets have been claimed, ticket prices are $5 for students. In order to purchase guest tickets, students are instructed to call the BGSU Ticket Office at 877-BGSU-TICKET.
