Destination Set: BGSU Volleyball To Open Regular Season At Golden Dome Invitational

Bowling Green, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University volleyball program will travel to Notre Dame, Ind. this weekend to participate in the Golden Dome Invitational on Friday and Saturday. The invitational will serve as the start of the regular season for the Falcons, beginning the pursuit for the third consecutive MAC Regular Season title. The Orange and Brown will be facing Notre Dame, Wright State and La Salle.

Last Time Out
On August 24, BGSU took on Gannon University at the Stroh Center in an exhibition match. The Falcons claimed the victory in four sets. Bowling Green was led by freshman Petra Indrova, who registered 19 kills in her debut donning the Orange and Brown. Junior Jacqueline Askin contributed 15 kills of her own in the match as well. Next Home Match: The Falcons will host the Hampton Inn Bowling Green Invitational on Sept. 6 and 7, hosting Charlotte, Butler and Cleveland State. Tickets for the invitational, and all BGSU home matches, can be found HERE.
Scouting The Fighting Irish
Serving as the host of the Golden Dome Invitational, Notre Dame is following a 16-12 finish in the 2018 season in Head Coach Mike Johnson's second year. The Fighting Irish welcomed four freshman to the roster for the 2019 season, joining a young team that includes five sophomores as well.Â
Scouting The Raiders
Coming off of a 15-14 2018 season, Wright State kicked off their 2019 campaign in an exhibition match with Ohio University. The Raiders were on the losing end of a five-set match against the Bobcats. For Wright State, Jenna Story led the team in digs with 21 while Nyssa Baker logged 12 kills and 10 block assists.Â
Scouting The Explorers
La Salle will begin the 2019 season at the Golden Dome Invitational after concluding their 2018 schedule with an 18-12 overall record. After seeing three seniors graduate, the Explorers will return 12 athletes to the roster, including sophomore Elizabeth Osborn who was second on the team with 264 kills.Â
MAC Preseason Polls
The Mid-American Conference released the 2019 Volleyball Preseason Polls on Tuesday (Aug. 27) morning, tabbing the Falcons to finish second in the East Division, receiving two votes to win the regular season and four votes to win the 2019 MAC Tournament. The full release can be found HERE.Â
