Falcons Place Second At Kent State Quad Meet

Kent, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University gymnastics team scored a 193.275 and placed second at the Kent State Quad Meet Friday night. The host school won the meet with a 195.450, while Ursinus scored 188.125 and Brockport finished with 187.725.
BGSU got event victories from Samantha Marion on vault and Jovannah East on the balance beam. For Marion, it was just her second career event victory and first ever on vault. East won an event for the 64th time in her career.

ROTATION NOTES
- BGSU posted its third-highest scores of the season on both the balance beam and the floor exercise. The Falcons scored a 48.525 on beam and a 48.550 on floor.
- The Falcons finished second, behind Kent State, in each rotation during the evening.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES
- Samantha Marion tied her career-best score on vault with a 9.850, good enough to win the event in the quad meet.
- Marion edged out teammate Elena Lawson for medalist honors on vault. Lawson scored a 9.825 and placed second. It tied her career-best score and was a season-best.
- Alexandra Fochler again earned a top three finish on bars. Her 9.775 gave her a top three finish in the event in each of the past six meets in which she has competed.
- Jovannah East scored a season-best 9.900 on balance beam to win in that rotation. She added a 9.825 on floor, marking the eighth straight time this year she has scored 9.825 or better on floor.
UP NEXT
- Bowling Green will take part in a double weekend next, beginning at Temple and concluding at Brown.
- The Falcons will take part in a triangular with Temple and Penn Friday at 7:00 pm.
- BGSU will conclude the weekend with a dual meet at Brown Sunday at 1:00 pm.
