Bowling Green, Ohio - At running back, redshirt junior Andrew Clair returns for the Falcons. Clair missed most of the season from a nagging foot injury but was named third team All-MAC each of the previous two years, and appeared on the Doak Walker Award Watch List heading into 2019. He has rushed for over 1,500 yards for the Falcons, and is one of the best in the Mid-American Conference.
Â
In Clair's absence, Bryson Denley had the opportunity to shine and he returns for his redshirt senior season after carrying a heavy load. Denley accumulated 544 yards and four touchdowns, also finishing as one of the team's leading receivers. He caught a crucial 66-yard touchdown pass in the win over Toledo.
Â
Greg Nosal has taken over as Running Backs Coach for the Falcons. In his first winter and spring at BGSU, Nosal was impressed with the group.
Â
"I was really impressed with how the group worked this winter," Nosal said. "We need to keep that momentum into the summer and fall. Having Andrew Clair and Bryson Denley returning is exciting for our offense. They are both proven playmakers and they are older guys who can help mentor some of the younger guys. Those young guys like Trevon Raymore, Terion Stewart and Joey Formani all have an exciting future here at BG and I look forward to being a part of it."
Â
Nosal has experience at three different Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) schools, most recently at East Carolina. Before East Carolina, he spent time at Miami (Fla.) and Virginia Tech. He will take over the running back room previously coached by Chris Hedden, who now oversees the tight ends.
Â
Along with Clair and Denley, redshirt freshman Raymore returns to the fold. He played in three games a year ago and had 68 yards rushing. Senior Nigel Sealey had 32 yards rushing over eight games and redshirt senior Maurice Adika adds depth after playing in seven games last year, mostly on special teams. Redshirt sophomore Tre'Ron Fullerton now has a year in the program after transferring from Virginia Union.
Â
BGSU added two running backs during the signing periods and will add Stewart (Sandusky, Ohio / Sandusky HS) and Formani (Lakewood, Ohio / St. Edward HS) to the mix.
