SETTING THE SCENE
• The Bowling Green State University women's basketball team, having moved into second place in the Mid-American Conference standings, hits the road to face Miami University on Saturday afternoon (Jan. 23). Head coach Robyn Fralick and the Falcons will meet the RedHawks in a 1:00 p.m. start at Millett Hall in Oxford, Ohio.
• The Falcons are coming off of a 66-57 win over Akron at the Stroh Center on Wednesday night (Jan. 20). BGSU, now 10-3 overall, has matched the win total for all of last season. And, the Falcons have doubled last year's MAC win total, with a 6-2 league ledger heading into Saturday's action in Oxford.
• Senior Madisen Parker had 13 points and a game-best +20 plus/minus rating vs. the Zips, while junior Kadie Hempfling dished out her 300th career assist in the win.
• The Miami matchup is BGSU's only road contest in a four-game stretch to end the month of January. The Falcons host Western Michigan and Toledo next week to wrap up the month.
FOLLOW THE FALCONS
• Due to the COVID-19 global pandemic, BGSU will unfortunately not have any public attendance for women's basketball games in the 2020-21 season. However, there are multiple ways to follow the Falcons this winter...
• TV/VIDEO: All of BGSU's home games, as well as many road contests, will be streamed via ESPN3 or ESPN+.
• RADIO/AUDIO: All BGSU home games and many road games will have an audio stream thanks to the efforts of the Bowling Green Radio Sports Organization (BGRSO).
• LIVE STATS: Live stats will be available for all BGSU games in 2020-21.
• TWITTER: In-game updates, along with key graphics and information, can be found on the BGSU women's basketball twitter account, @BGSUwbb.

WELL THEN...
• As Jon Lovitz's character said in A League of Their Own, "Well then, this would be more, wouldn't it?" The Falcons' 66-57 win over Akron on Wednesday night gives BGSU a 6-2 record in Mid-American Conference play, good for second place in the 12-team league entering Saturday's action.
• BGSU has doubled the program's MAC win total from last season, and the Falcons have surpassed the total for the last two years combined. BG went 3-15 in MAC play last season and 2-16 the previous winter.
10 AND 3
• BGSU is now 10-3 overall. After 13 games, the Falcons have matched the overall win total for all of last season. The 2019-20 club finished with a 10-21 mark.
• BG has not won more than 10 games in three years, since the 2017-18 club went 11-19, and the Falcons have not had more than 11 victories in seven years, since posting a 30-5 record in 2013-14.
300
• Junior Kadie Hempfling's third and final assist in Wednesday's win over Akron was the 300th of her career. Hempfling, just a junior and not the team's point guard, has taken over sole possession of 10th place on the BGSU career assist list.
• Hempfling passed her former teammate, Sydney Lambert (297 career assists) on that list, and her next target is Judit Lendvay, who had 304 assists in her BG career.
KATE ACHTER. KADIE HEMPFLING. THAT'S IT. THAT'S THE LIST.
• In the history of BGSU women's basketball, only one player had amassed both 500 rebounds and 300 assists in her career. Now, that list has doubled.
• Kate Achter had been the only player in nearly five decades of basketball to achieve both of those milestones. After only two and one-half seasons in a BG uniform, though, junior Kadie Hempfling has joined Achter on that list. Earlier in January, Hempfling pulled down her 500th rebound as a Falcon, and she now has 540 career boards. And, she handed out her 300th career assist in the win over Akron.
• Achter (2004-08), a member of the BGSU Athletics Hall of Fame, had a school-record 688 assists and exactly 500 rebounds in her Falcon career..
A QUICK LOOK AT THE REDHAWKS
• Miami is 1-11 on the season, and the RedHawks are 0-8 in MAC play entering Saturday's game. MU has lost five of those conference contests by single digits. Most recently, the injury-riddled RedHawks dropped a 70-54 decision at Western Michigan on Wednesday afternoon.
• Peyton Scott leads the team with 19.4 points per game, and also paces the club with 4.7 assists per contest. Kelly McLaughlin has 12.9 ppg and a team-high 8.4 rebounds per outing, while Katie Davidson has 12.8 ppg.
• The RedHawks are 1-4 at home and 0-7 on the road this season to date. In the MAC, MU has played four home and four road contests thus far. Head coach DeUnna Hendrix welcomed back three starters from a 2019-20 club that finished with an overall record of 11-20 and a MAC mark of 4-14.
THE SERIES
• The Falcons lead Miami, 53-34, in the all-time series, and BGSU has captured the last two matchups. The Brown and Orange won this season's first meeting, 71-66, at the Stroh Center last month (Dec. 22, 2020). In the last meeting at Millett, the Falcons took an 82-69 decision (March 4, 2020), snapping a six-game MU series winning streak.
• BGSU is 25-16 in home games, 22-17 in road contests and 6-1 in neutral-site events vs. the Redskins/RedHawks over the years. Much more series information can be found on page 22 of the attached PDF.
