Falcons Beat Toledo In Opener Of Saturday Doubleheader

TOLEDO, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University baseball team split a Saturday (May 15) doubleheader with the University of Toledo. Both ballgames were seven innings and played at UT's Scott Park. The Falcons won the opener, 5-4, prior to Toledo claiming the night cap by a score of 12-5. The Rockets hold a 2-1 advantage in the four-game weekend series.
Rigo Ramos earned the win for the Falcons in the opener. The southpaw logged 5.2 innings of one-run ball. Ramos scattered five hits and allowed one run while striking out five. Jeremy Spezia nailed down the final four outs for Bowling Green, striking out the final batter to secure the victory.
BGSU raced out to a 5-0 lead, scoring three runs in the third prior to a two-run fourth. Kyle Gurney led the way with three hits, two doubles and two RBI. Adam Fallon went 2-for-2 with a run and walk. Tyler Ross and Dylan Dohanos each had one hit, one run and one RBI.
Gurney continued his big day in the night cap, finishing 2-for-3 with two more RBI. Griffin Parrill struck out three over 1.2 innings on the mound. Joe Roediger blanked the Rockets in the sixth.
Bowling Green, 12-20 in Mid-American Conference play, goes for the Battle of I-75 series split on Sunday (May 16) afternoon. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
