The No. 8 Minnesota State Mavericks are the defending CCHA regular season and tournament champions, and they were selected as the preseason favorite in September. This will be MSU's first conference series of the season, with their first six games coming against non-conference, ranked opponents. They split a home-and-home series with No. 6 Minnesota, swept No. 4 Minnesota-Duluth at home, then lost both games to No. 8 St. Cloud State. The Mavs have a 3-0-0 record at home but are 0-3-0 in road contests.
Forward Sam Morton leads the Mavericks with five goals and seven points, with defenseman Akito Hirose adding a team-high six assists. Those two, along with defenseman Jake Livingstone, have earned a CCHA Player of the Week award. Livingstone was also named to the CCHA All-Preseason Team, with senior Brendan Furry earning CCHA Preseason Player of the Year. Alex Tracy and Kennan Rancier have split time in net, with Tracy earning CCHA Rookie of the Week on Oct. 17 following his two-win weekend against Minnesota-Duluth. In two games, he allowed one goal and made 31 saves.

Series Info
The Mavericks hold a 22-10-3 lead in the all-time series, including a 9-1-0 record in the last 10 games. Last season, MSU swept the Falcons in both series, once in October and once in February.

Ty's Take
"Our focus moving forward is, number one, getting guys healthy, and number two, defending better and playing in our own defensive zone. There haven't been many league series. We've got 24 league games left to play and we've got to do the best we can."
