Scoring Plays
- An early defensive battle wielded just three shots on goal for each team through the first 17:33. With 2:30 remaining in the opening frame, Ryan Sandelin fired a shot from the left circle. Lucas Sowder's redirect attempt from the left crease was unsuccessful, but Ondrej Pavel was there to knock in the rebound, giving the Mavericks a 1-0 lead.
- Minnesota State added to the lead four minutes into the second frame. The Falcons looked to clear the puck, but Steven Bellini collected it at the red line and sent it to Jake Livingstone. His cross-ice pass from the blue line found Tanner Edwards just inside the top of the left circle. Edwards fired a shot that was saved by Stoever, but the rebound went directly to Edwards, who found the back of the net on his second attempt.
- The Falcons cut their deficit in half early in the third period. Hunter Lellig sent the puck from one end of the ice to the other, where it was collected by Brayden Krieger. He sent a pass to a crashing Adam Pitters, who had his initial shot saved. The rebound fluttered back to him, as he spun and collected it to fire in the first goal of the game for BGSU.
- With less than a minute remaining in regulation, the Falcons had a 6-on-4 advantage after pulling Stoever on the power play. MSU won a neutral zone face off, but Austen Swankler poked it away to Nathan Burke. He dumped it back to Anton Malmstrom, who sent it from the blue line to the right circle, where Swankler sent a one-timer top shelf for the game-tying power play goal.
- Brendan Furry scored the golden goal for the Mavericks with under a minute to go in overtime. He received it at the top of the right circle from Sowder, who had circled the zone after a breakaway opportunity. Furry's shot slipped through to give MSU the extra CCHA point.
