March 20, 2024 | Baseball
CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Mid-American Conference announced the MAC Scholar-Athletes of the Week Wednesday afternoon (March 20). Of those named, Bowling Green's Jack Krause was named the MAC Male Scholar-Athlete of the Week. This is Krause's first Scholar-Athlete award as a member of the Falcons. Krause is the third recognition for BGSU with Lauryn Hovey being named the Female Scholar-Athlete of the Week twice during the volleyball season.
Krause was the catalyst for the Falcons during a week where BGSU scored 58 runs in just four games, including a program record in a MAC game with 34 on Saturday against Ball State. He batted .588 with a slugging percentage of 1.058 on the week. He had a double and was hit by a pitch in his two plate appearances at Dayton in a midweek game. Then, on Friday, Krause singled, drove in a run and stole a base in a win at Ball State. Krause's best game of the weekend was in the Saturday win at BSU, as he went 5-for-7 with five runs scored and four RBI with a double. He followed it up with a 3-for-5 day on Sunday with two home runs, three RBI and three runs scored, as BGSU completed the sweep of the Cardinals. Over the course of the four games, Krause reached base 13 times and scored nine times. The Falcons are 6-0 in the MAC for the first time since 1995.
