Noah Morneau Earns CCHA Rookie of the Week Honors
November 11, 2025 | Ice Hockey
The Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) announced its list of weekly award winners on Monday, Nov. 10, for games played this past weekend (Nov. 7-8). BGSU's Noah Morneau earned Rookie of the Week Honors, as he tallied two goals in Friday night's 4-4 tie against Minnesota State.
The Falcons and Mavericks split a hard-fought series this past weekend, with both games going into a shootout. The Mavericks earned the extra point in the shootout in Friday's 4-4 tie, while the Falcons responded by taking the extra point after Saturday's 1-1 tie. Noah Morneau played a pivotal role for the Falcons this weekend, as he tied Friday night's game on two separate occasions. In the second period, during a stretch of four-on-four hockey, he latched on to a backhand feed from Breck McKinley following a Maverick turnover at their own blue line, firing a shot past the goaltender Alex Tracy to make the game 3-3.Â
The Falcons would then fall behind again early in the third period after Campbell Cichosz made the score 4-3 in favor of the Mavericks. Late in the third period, with the Falcon net empty and the extra skater on the ice, Brayden Crampton fired a shot from the blue line with traffic in front of the net, which found the stick of Morneau in the high slot, who deflected the shot past Alex Tracy for his second of the night, sending the game to overtime.
Along with his two goals on Friday night, Morneau won 10 out of 15 faceoffs, earning himself a spot on the top line for Saturday night's game. On Saturday night, he won another 11 draws and contributed a blocked shot. Morneau played a pivotal role in earning the Falcons three out of a possible six points against the #16 ranked Mavericks, which could prove to be invaluable in the final CCHA standings.Â
The Falcons will look to get back into the win column this weekend, as they play host to Ferris State on Friday and Saturday (Nov. 14-15). Puck drop for Friday and Saturday is set for 7:07 and 6:07 pm, respectively. Games will be available to watch live on Midco Sports Plus.Â
