Jackson Niedermayer Named CCHA Defenseman of the Week
January 26, 2026 | Ice Hockey
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) has announced its weekly award winners for competition through this past weekend, and Bowling Green senior defenseman Jackson Niedermayer has been named CCHA Defenseman of the Week following a standout performance in the Falcons' road sweep of Bemidji State.
Niedermayer (Sr., Manhattan Beach, Calif.) played a pivotal role in Bowling Green's pair of victories at the Sanford Center, helping the Falcons to 3–1 and 5–1 wins to complete the sweep. The senior finished the weekend with three assists for three points, all coming in Saturday night's series finale.
In the 5–1 victory, Niedermayer assisted on three of Bowling Green's five goals, marking career highs in both assists and points in a single game. The performance came in his 110th career collegiate contest and helped power BGSU to its largest win over Bemidji State in 10 years, as well as the largest margin of victory in the series at Bemidji.
Defensively, Niedermayer was equally impactful, posting a +4 rating for the weekend, which tied for the team lead alongside Jake Sloan. His steady presence on the blue line helped limit Bemidji State's offensive chances while driving BGSU's transition game from the back end.
Bowling Green returns to action this weekend with a home and home series with Notre Dame. BGSU travels to Notre Dame on Friday with a 7 p.m. puck drop on Peacock. Saturday's home game is sold out at Slater Family Ice Arena. Puck drop is 6:07 p.m. Fans can check out tickets on Seat Geek.
