Tyler Hotson Named CCHA Forward of the Week
January 05, 2026 | Ice Hockey
Hotson led the Falcons with a career-high four points in Saturday's 5–3 victory over the Buckeyes at Slater Family Ice Arena, tying career bests with two goals and two assists. The Stratford, Ontario native opened the scoring just 1:17 into the game, then pulled Bowling Green even midway through the second period with his second goal, tying the contest at 2–2 at the 10:03 mark.
The junior center continued to impact the game in the decisive third period, assisting on the go-ahead goal before adding another assist on the insurance tally with 6:04 remaining, helping the Falcons close out a 3–0 third-period surge. He also contributed defensively with two key blocked shots in the victory.
Hotson added to his weekend totals in Friday's series opener in Columbus, recording an assist on BGSU's first goal of the night as part of a 2–0 third-period push that forced overtime and secured a road tie for the Falcons.
With the weekend results, Bowling Green snapped an eight-game skid to its former CCHA rival and defeated Ohio State for the first time since the 2018–19 season. Friday's tie also marked the program's first result against the Buckeyes since that span.
Hotson, a transfer from RPI, continues to be one of Bowling Green's most productive forwards this season, delivering timely scoring and strong two-way play down the middle of the lineup. He currently is tied with Breck McKinley for No. 2 on the team with 17 points (7-10-17). Hotson also leads BGSU in shooting percentage for all Falcons with 15+ shots.
BGSU is back in CCHA action this weekend at Ferris State. Puck drop on Friday is 7:07 p.m., followed by a 6:07 p.m. start on Saturday.
