Hills concluded his four-year BG career as the school's all-time leading point producer and goal scorer with 270 and 116, respectively. His assist total (154) finished two off the school record. Today, his point figure ranks second in the BG annals behind only Nelson Emerson. His goal and assist marks each currently stand third in the BG record books. The Windsor, Ontario, native ended his brilliant career with a school-record 94 points during the 1982-83 campaign. He landed a spot on the All-CCHA First Team for the second consecutive season and was also chosen as the league's "Player of the Year."
A second-team all-league pick as a sophomore, Hills was a two-time First-Team All-America selection and Hobey Baker Memorial Award finalist as a junior and senior. He was also a Second-Team CoSIDA/ GTE Academic At-Large All-American his final year in school.
Hills played 11 professional seasons in Europe where he earned numerous league awards. He helped Team Canada to Spengler Cup championships on three occasions.
Hills served as co-coach of the Chur Elite Junior Team in Chur, Switzerland, in 1986-87 and then as goalie coach with Rapperswil, also in Switzerland, from 1988-90. Throughout his playing career in Europe, he assisted his coaches with on-ice instruction. He has also assisted with player evaluation for three summers at Team Canada's development camp.
Hills earned his bachelor's degree in business administration procurement and materials management from BGSU in 1983. He is also involved with the Bowling Green Youth Hockey Association instructing coaches and serving as an assistant coach with his children's teams.
